Friends of Girls Africa (FoGA) is a Ghana based not for profit organisation dedicated to youth empowerment, gender equality, and community development. Founded by two young Ghanaian development practitioners, FoGA is driven by a long term vision of building inclusive societies where young people are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and opportunities to thrive.

The organisation focuses on transforming how youth development is approached in Africa by combining education, mentorship, leadership training, and advocacy. Its work is grounded in the belief that sustainable change begins when young people are actively involved in shaping their own futures.
Founders Behind Friends of Girls Africa’s (FoGA) Vision
Godsway Cofie Obro Boateng is a Ghanaian gender advocate, youth leader, and development practitioner whose work focuses on gender equality, youth empowerment, environmental sustainability, and inclusive development. He is an alumnus of Manya Krobo Senior High School, where he served as Senior Boys’ Prefect for the Class of 2017.
He holds academic training in Political Science from the University of Ghana and International Gender Studies from the University of Iceland. Professionally, Godsway Cofie Obro Boateng serves as a Programme Assistant at the Environmental Protection Authority Ghana.
In 2024, he was selected as a UNESCO GRÓ GEST Fellow. In 2025, Godsway Cofie Obro Boateng represented Ghana at the Global Youth Summit in Cape Town, South Africa.
Christel Comfort Agbemafle is a Ghanaian youth leader, writer, and development practitioner with experience in education, health advocacy, and community development across Ghana.
She serves as an International Liaison with the UK Home Office International Operations in Ghana. She is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in International Affairs at the University of Ghana and is a member of the Global Shapers Community.
She is also a first generation university graduate and alumna of Manya Krobo Senior High School.
A Shared Journey That Became FoGA
The founders met in 2014 at Manya Krobo Senior High School. Over time, their shared passion for service and leadership evolved into Friends of Girls Africa.
FoGA focuses on education, mentorship, leadership development, health, and human rights advocacy. It empowers girls while also engaging boys as partners in building inclusive communities.
