Details Of The Robbery And Murder

On Sunday, October 19, 2025, in Aduman (Kodie Municipal District, Ashanti Region), a 15-year-old housekeeper and an 18-year-old co-worker went missing after a “job” for transporting firewood.

According to the complaint, he parked his tricycle at his home in Aduman Old Town and travelled to Kumasi. He added that, upon his return later that evening, he found out that both the tricycle and two housekeepers Kwabena Yankyira, 18, and Kwabena Boateng, 15 were missing.

Investigations by the Ashanti North Regional Police Command revealed that, 28 year old Sani Abacha lured the victims under the pretext of using a tricycle to transport firewood from his farm. After succeeding with that, he then led them into a bush, attacked both victims with a cutlass, inflicted several wounds and stole the tricycle.

Following that, 23-year-old Asante Eric joined and helped Abacha to hide the tricycle at Aboabogya Cemetery. Consequently, they sold it to a third suspect identified only as “Balawe” who remains on the run.

The next morning, residents found Yankyira unconscious and injured in the cocoa farm near the Aduman Old Town Cemetery. He sustained deep cutlass wounds to his neck, head, and ear, and was rushed to St. Patrick’s Hospital at Maase-Offinso for treatment. Within a short time, Boateng’s body was also discovered nearby with similar injuries.

Moreover, Police recovered a cutlass believed to have been used in the attack. Also, they conveyed the deceased’s body to St. Patrick’s Hospital for preservation and autopsy.

Arrest Of Suspects And Legal Action

Abacha was arrested on October 24, 2025 in Asafo Tinkamu through an “intelligence led” operation. He then led officers to arrest Eric at Aboabogya.

Both men were arraigned on October 28, 2025 at the Kodie Magistrate Court on provisional charges of robbery and murder, and remanded in custody. Their next appearance is scheduled for November 25, 2025.

Furthermore, Police has appealed to the public to help in locating the third suspect and recovering the stolen tricycle.
