Miner Killed in Obuasi Home Robbery

A miner has been shot dead during a home robbery in the mining town of Obuasi in the Ashanti Region, and police have arrested one suspect while two others remain on the run, according to the Ghana Police Service.

The tragic incident occurred at a residence in the Obuasi Central District, where the victim was reportedly attacked by a group of armed men during a late-night raid.

Robbery Turned Deadly

According to police reports, the miner was ambushed in his home by three assailants who reportedly gained entry with the intention of robbing occupants. An exchange of gunfire ensued during the confrontation, resulting in the miner being shot and killed on the spot.

Residents in the area were alarmed by the gunshots and rushed to the scene, where emergency responders and police later discovered the victim’s body.

Suspects Identified and Arrest Made

Police have confirmed the arrest of one suspect believed to have taken part in the robbery-turned-homicide. Investigators are holding the individual in custody and are working to identify and track down the remaining two suspects who escaped during the encounter.

Law enforcement officers are combing through evidence and witness statements as they intensify efforts to apprehend all people involved in the violent incident.
