New Standard Ghana Passport Application Fee

The new standard Ghana passport fee has been stated here. Applications must be made online via the official portal, without middlemen involved.

What You Need To Apply For Ghana Passport

You’ll need a digital application form, supporting documents (Ghana Card, etc), and payment confirmation before visiting a Passport Application Center (PAC).

Easy Steps to Apply for a Ghana Passport

Follow the steps below to successfully apply for your Ghana passport:

1. Start Your Application Online

Visit the official Ghana Passport Application Portal at: passport.mfa.gov.gh.

Then create a new account if you’re applying for the first time. Otherwise, log in if you already have an account from a previous application.

Once you’re logged in, select the type of passport you want: standard or expedited.

After that, choose “Start New Application.”

2. Choose Application Type and Payment Option

As of November 13, 2025, the standard passport fee is GHS 350 for ordinary passports. You can pay this amount using:

  1. Mobile Money (MoMo)
  2. Visa/MasterCard
  3. Bank Payment (GCB or NIB)

After successful payment, you’ll receive a receipt and application reference number (keep it safe).

3. Complete the Online Form

Fill in all required details carefully:

  1. Personal Information (Name, Date of Birth, Occupation, etc.)
  2. Parents’ Information
  3. Next of Kin
  4. Emergency Contact
  5. Digital Photograph (passport-style photo meeting Ghana passport standards)

Note: Double-check spellings and dates. Errors can be corrected at the passport office, however it delays processing.

4. Upload Supporting Documents

You must attach scanned copies (clear and readable) of the following:

  1. Birth Certificate (or Proof of Ghanaian Citizenship)
  2. National ID (Ghana Card or Voter ID)
  3. Previous Passport (for renewal applicants)
  4. Affidavit/Marriage Certificate (if name has changed)

Note: Only PDF or JPEG files under 1 MB are accepted per upload.

5. Book Your Biometric Appointment

After submitting your online form, select your nearest Passport Application Centre (PAC).

Then book an appointment date and time for biometric capture.

Following that, you will get an appointment slip. Print it and take it along with all original documents.

6. Attend the Biometric Capture Appointment And Vetting

On your appointment day, arrive early at your chosen PAC. First come, first serve!

Take along all your original documents, your printed application form, and payment receipt.

Your photo, fingerprints, and digital signature will be captured.

After that, you’ll receive a receipt and tracking number to check progress.

Take Note: Immigration officers may vet you upon your arrival. These questions are usually based on the documents that you have submitted.

7. Track Your Application Status

You can track your application online at: passport.mfa.gov.gh → “Track Application.”

Enter your reference number to view the current status:

  1. Processing
  2. Ready for Collection
  3. Dispatched

8. Collect Your Passport

You will be notified (via SMS or email) once your passport is ready.

Collection is done at the same PAC where you did your biometrics.

Make sure you send your:

  1. Original ID
  2. Collection receipt

Expedited Service

Expediated service may take 5 working days. However, extra fee applies.

Important Ghana Passport Application Tips

  1. Avoid using “agents” or middlemen. All applications are self-service online.

  3. Ensure your personal details match your National ID to avoid rejection.
  4. Always use an active phone number and email to receive updates.
