Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has commenced a two-day outreach tour across Ghana’s Central Region. This is part of the steps he has been taking to intensify his push toward securing the New Patriotic Party’s  presidential candidacy for the January 2026 primaries.

Dr. Bawumia’s Strategic Objectives

During this regional visit, Dr. Bawumia plans to meet with both constituency and regional party executives. This aims at strengthening ties with grassroots leaders, shore up delegate support, and build momentum in a region that could be pivotal for delegate votes.

Dr. Bawumia has already engaged in similar tours in the Ashanti and Eastern Regions, where he interacted with local executives, MPs, and grassroots structures, emphasizing unity and organizational cohesion.

From close observation, Bawumia’s campaign has attracted notable endorsements across multiple levels of the NPP party. These include: NPP members of parliament, former district chief executives, constituency executives and grassroots groups.

According to his camp, he is positioning his bid not just for party leadership. However, for a broader mission – to unify the NPP and steer it toward victory in the 2028 general elections.
